About hundred million pet cats are found in western countries. Domestic shorthaired cat is the most known breed in all the cat breeds. Domestic shorthaired cat is a product of different cat breeds combination. The Calico cat breeds are also well known. The largest registry recorded by Cats Fancier’s Organization (CFA) all over the world is of Pedigree cats. Pedigree is a result of two parents from same breeds. There are numerous classes of cat breed jewellery and cat breed specific gifts presented in market.
Here is a look on the top eight breads of cats from 2006; this list was arranged by CFA.
The Persian
This breed remains on first position since 1871, when CFA started keeping records. Persian cats necessitate high maintenance and grooming each day. Persian cats possess affectionate and reliable personality.
The Maine Coon
This American breed got second position in 1992 and still keeping its position. Maine Coon is counted as one of the major domestic cat breeds. Maine Coon males possess 12 to 18 pounds of weight while female Coons are generally 10 to 14 pounds in weight. They are not so gentle and loving. This breed of house cats has long fur. They don’t call for much grooming as compare to Persian.
The Exotic
These cats are also known as Exotic shorthairs. Exotic cats possess sold appearance with rounded body structure. This breed is same similar to the Persian but they have short fur. The personality of this breed is charming. Exotics need combing after two to three days.
The Siamese
These cats have very friendly-nature as compare to other breeds of cats. They yowl in rasping voice to attract others. Siamese cats have slim and sporty body composition with outsized ears. They have tiny fur that lies very close to there skin. Siamese cats are in fact trustworthy and single person affectionate. These cats are very sharp and lovely.
The Abyssinian
It’s famous about Abyssinian cute cats that they are descended from those who worshiped by the old Egyptians. No one knows truth of this story. They have ticked upper coat. These cats posses active nature, they love to play and they feel affection for people.
The Ragdoll
Rag Dolls, or 'RAGGIES' are really endearing cats. These cats are known as Rag Dolls it’s all because it completely hugs your arms when you pick them up. They are also one of largest cat’s breeds on list. Rag Dolls male normally grows up to 20 and female up to 15 pounds. They have mid-length, silky fur and blue eyes. They are extraordinary lovable. They are innocent by nature.
The Birman
This breed is different from all breeds of cats. These cats have blue eyes. Birman have white paws that make them more eye-catching. Birman have loving nature that they will wait for you to get back to them. They don’t require much grooming although they have silky and long fur.
The American Shorthair
This breed is easily available at many cat breeder centers. Originally American Shorthairs arrived in America at “Mayflower”. These cats have a loving nature, polite with children but they have great hunting qualities. They are in many colors but the most common one is silver. Most of these cats have black stripes on silver background that gives them extra beauty like Blake cat breeds.
